“There’s your trouble!”

Hello all!

Does it seem weird to anyone else that the Dixie Chicks and Great Big Sea sing the same song? I always get so disconcerted when someone else is singing a song I associate with a particular singer/band.

Anyways… Rent was amazing (of course), and the food was very good too! A lot of the people watching it had seen it before, so we sang along (quietly) during the funner songs (LA VIE BOHEME!!!!!). One girl who hadn’t seen it before asked near the beginning if they all had AIDS, and then left halfway through. Hehehe… At the end we were all teary eyed but very happy. I saw Michael off, then went and washed dishes and chatted for a while with Andrew. On Tuesday I studied Latin with Devin (Andrew’s room mate) and another girl from our class. It was nice to study with other people. Studying alone in my room, it’s so easy to get distracted and disinterested. Devin and I walked home together, only to realize that he had given his keys to Andrew. Someone let us into the building, but there was a note on the door saying that Andrew was in the lounge. OF course, there are three lounges in the building, and he was in the last one we checked. For the next two hours or so, we all did homework or other work, or, in Devin’s case, slept. We were all very productive, despite the company. We went to get pizza at Caps, where we met Steve, then went to Quinceanera. It’s a feel-good movie about the misfits of a large, extended Mexican family in the States. It’s definitely not brilliant, but Andrew and i thouroughly enjoyed it, and Steve and I got bonus marks for going to it in our Spanish class. :)

I don’t remember what I did Wednesday. Thusrday I went to my Spanish conversation group and there was more than two of us, so that was exciting. In the evening I went for a walk with Andrew. It was interesting, because I was hit by a giggle-fit just before he called. So I laughed pretty much the entire time, and then Andrew started throwing things at me (he has a theory that if he continues to throw things at me, eventually I will be able to catch them. Silly boy). Naturally, I started tickling him, which he hates, so we started wrestling and it was all very fun and terribly silly. I think Alan thinks we’re crazy now, but oh well. :)

Yesterday I had lunch with Danica and Alyssa, then went to return a mic Steve and I found on the ground to the music department. On my way back, I ran into Kathleen, who lives in my building and is a theatre person and really fun. We chatted all the way home, and when we got back, she invited me to hang out in her room. So I did, and we discovered that her room is directly below mine. I had tons of fun talking to her! She’s very much the kind of person I’m used to and like hanging out with. Then Danica called and we went downtown together. We both had a few errands to run, and we browsed through the stores along Fan Tan Alley. I love Fan Tan Alley! Not only is the alley itself cool, lots of the stores along it are really neat! There are some really hippie clothing stores, which made Danica and I happy. :) We found a baby shirt that said “100% Free Range” on it, with a picture of a baby crawling around, and stickers that said “Vegetarians are sprouting up everywhere”. We enjoyed them a lot.

When we got back to campus I quickly ate dinner and changed, and then Andrew and I caught a bus down to the Centenniel United Church where the Swing workshop was being held. When we walked into the room, we discovered that we were the youngest people there by about 15 years, except for the instructor, John’s, granddaughter. It was a little disconcerting at first, but it turned out we knew more swing than most of them, so it wasn’t so intimidating. John taught at a faster pace than at the university ballroom classes, which both Andrew and I appreciated. We picked up the steps quickly and had tons of fun. Then we had an hour before Swing City opened, so we decided to walk there. Only we never found it. We walked all along the waterfront and it was lovely, but we never found it. Finally we gave up and sat down on the beach to rest our poor legs. Dancing shoes are not meant to be walking shoes. After a while we went and a found a cafe where we had carrot cake and steamed milk or hot chocolate. Then we took the bus back to the university.

Campus was crazy, because it was the Friday before Halloween. Andrew and I went to his room, where we ran into Devin and his friend in nothing but their boxers and cardboard boxes. Their costumes, of course. Then we went up to Jen and Joyce’s room. We talked and watched strange movie clips on Andrew’s computer. Andrew and I showed off our new Swing skills and taght the two of them how to do some of the basic steps. Various people came in and out while we were dancing, including one girl who asked Jen if Andrew and I were going out, and, upon finding out we weren’t, proclaimed that we should, because we are “cute”. That had a good laugh about that one. :) Andrew told us a story about a chartreuse buoy, and then I got tired and went home.

Today I slept in and have been doing homework all day because tomorrow I’m going to visit Montana!!!!!!!! Yay!

Sorry for the endless post! I love you all!
