“There’s only one way to mend a broken heart”

Yay for the Wailing Jennies! Music makes me so happy! Well, some music. The band at Felicita’s the other night sounded truly awful when I was walking by. Felicita’s, by the way, is the campus bar. Sigh. What is with university students and drinking?

Today was a good day. My first class felt a little early, but I enjoyed talking to Wayne, the elderly lawyer who sits next to me. In my next class I had to do a ten minute oral presentation in Spanish, and it went a lot better than I expected it to. I wasn’t even too nervous. And then we read John Donne’s “The Flea” in English class, and that made me very happy! I love John Donne! And I have people I talk to in all my classes now!
After class, I had lunch with Danica Lee and Alyssa Idler and we had a really interesting, intense conversation. Then we went down to my favourite beach and it was even more beautiful than I expected in the daylight. The tide was in and the water looked tropical. We saw a jellyfish right up by the shore, and then some otters way out in the bay. It was so beautiful! I’m going to put some pictures up when I’m done writing this, so you should all go see them.

This evening I’m going to a open mic night at a cafe near Michael’s house, and tomorrow I’m going to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show! I’ve never seen it before, so I’m very excited! Andrew’s never seen it either, so we’re going with Michael (who loves it). Chris has gone home for the weekend again. It seems I’ve hardly talked to him in a week. I guess I have hardly talked to him in a week. Hmmm… I keep making new friends now, though. People come and eat with me, or I join them, or we meet in class or at some meeting or social event, and next thing I know, I’m waving to people as I walk by and chatting, etc.

Yesterday I went to the Writing Students’ Union meeting and I think I’m going to help edit a book that they publish every year! It’s very exciting! And I think I’m going to submit something too. There are different categories, so I wouldn’t be editing my own stuff. And then I met two other Spanish students and we chatted in Spanish for forty minutes. It was fun!

In case you hadn’t noticed, I’m enjoying myself here. Yay for friends and lots of cool stuff to do!
